Gene Howe Wildlife Management Area

Summer is a great time to get out and explore the world around you.  As wildlife technician Bob Rogers says, "it's a good place to be!"  The Gene Howe Wildlife Management Area (GHWMA), located just off Lake Marvin Road, a few miles north of Canadian, is a great place to get out and see some of our native neighbors.  Access to this land is granted through the Texas Parks and Wildlife, and all you need is a limited public use permit ($12).  These passes can be purchased locally at Alco or Lowe's, or you can buy them online.  Even better, kids get in free!  Fishing is also free at the GHWMA as long as you have the above mentioned permit.  Find maps and learn all about the GHWMA by clicking the view more button.  We can't wait to see you out and about in Canadian!

June 29~ TCRA Rodeo at the Hemphill County Arena.  $10 admission.  Performance starts at 7pm.

June 29 ~ Rodeo Dance at the Hemphill County Pavilion.  9:00pm. $20 admission.  Headliner Josh Abbott Band, Opening Act Cody Jinks & the Tone Def Hippies.

June 30 ~ Ranch Rodeo at the Hemphill County Arena.  $10 admission.  Performance starts at 7pm.

July 4 ~ Turtle Race, Presbyterian Church Tennis Courts.  After Parade.

July 4 ~ TCRA Rodeo Performance.  Canadian Rodeo Arena, 7pm.  $10 admission.

July 4 ~ Fireworks.  Dark.  Hemphill County Recreation Park.
