The town of Canadian has a strong tradition of providing outstanding public education. Canadian ISD educations approximately 900 students in grades K-12 across four schools. The district holds an A rating from the Texas State Board of Education and is ranked among the top performing districts in the state. With a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1, and per-pupil spending 20 percent above the state average, each CISD student receives tailored, quality education. Canadian ISD also boasts an outstanding athletics program with seven sports. In 2020, the Canadian Wildcats won their fifth Class 3A Division II state football championship.

Canadian residents have “big city” access to health care and retirement facilities through the Hemphill County Hospital District and a number of private practitioners. Our local Emergency Medical Services and the Emergency Room provides 24-hour ambulance service, medical and trauma care. Also available to our residents are licensed counseling, rehabilitative care, physical therapy, sleep studies, a full radiology and medical lab, Home Health Care and In-house and Outpatient Hospice Care.
